HERE’S WHAT’S UP:

TWENTY EIGHT (28) men and boys say their lives were disrupted by unwanted and/or abusive sexual experiences by Steve Myers/Jackson when they were minors. 

Allegations span 50 years (1968-2018) and include molestation, false imprisonment, sexual misconduct, sexually suggestive photography, and participation in on-line child sexual abuse (child pornography). (Timeline) (Investigative news article: “Report Reveals Myers Abused Children”.)

POLICE REPORTS, including his CONFESSION: During a 1996 interview with Santa Cruz, CA police detectives Myers said he molested underage boys and was sexually attracted to boys aged 14-16. A Santa Cruz Police Sergeant told a reporter, "We had enough information that he was indeed molesting boys," Sergeant Clark said, "but we didn't have enough information to take it to court". At least 5 police reports have been filed by victims. Parents and others also filed complaints with police departments in Santa Cruz, Denver, Amherst (MA), England, and Kazakhstan.

CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES: CPS removed adopted boys twice (approx. 1996 and 2002) from Myers/Jackson due to findings from their investigations. The boys had been adopted from Romania and Ukraine.

WHY IS HE NOT IN PRISON? Police say it's due to statutes of limitations, jurisdictional issues, and inability or unwillingness of some victims to press charges. (See news article.) Aliases and name changes make it more difficult for people to know his history through an internet search. Also, when he comes under scrutiny for his questionable behavior with boys, he moves to a new school, often enabled by positive referrals from previous schools (despite them being aware of his past).

NAME CHANGE & ALIASES: Since 2012, he has mostly used either “Stephen Swarup Jackson” or “Stephen Howard Myers” as his name. In addition, there are at least 8 aliases tied to his Social Security number, and most recently he has used “Steve Gaylyn Myers” and “Steve Gaylyn Meyers”. (See legal name change and aliases)

17 SCHOOLS: He’s been at 17 schools in six countries and three U.S. states. He is able to gain admiration and respect quite quickly from students, colleagues, and school administrators.

TEACHING CREDENTIALS DENIED IN CO AND CA: On the CO DOE website: “…He also engaged in unethical behavior in violation of [codes], in that he, although not convicted, committed inappropriate sexual contact and conduct with both student and non-student juveniles." More info here.

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW (early 2024)

CIVIL CASES: Five men filed civil lawsuits in 2023 against Myers/Jackson for sexual abuse when they were children. See this news article for more information.

CRIMINAL CASE: Myers/Jackson was arrested in July 2023 on two counts of insurance fraud (Class 5 Felony) and one count of theft. As of December 2023, the case is in Denver County Criminal Court. See UPDATE below and see more info, including case number, here.

CRIMINAL CASES: Myers/Jackson is currently being investigated by two separate law enforcement agencies for multiple crimes of child sexual abuse that occurred in several states and internationally between 1968 and 2009.

UPDATE: January 8, 2024 - MYERS IS NOW A CONVICTED FELON for insurance fraud. He was arrested in Colorado in July, 2023 for insurance fraud (Class 5 Felony in CO) and theft. He spent one night in jail. Today, Myers pled guilty and was sentenced to two years supervised probation, and nearly $3,000 in fines. Judge Eric Johnson declared him a convicted felon.

• Stop further abuse by Myers/Jackson
